Unlike most Islay malts which focus on sea and salty notes in their whiskies, the whiskies of Ardbeg are heavily peated malts. They are dominated by aromas of spices, malt, or sweet tones, such as chocolate and vanilla. And Traigh Bhan (pronounced Tri-Van) 19 Year Old 2022 Edition is their top tier, blending together beautifully lull and crescendo of its intense flavors. It has matured in Ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks for 19 years. It is non-chill-filtered and bottled at 46.2% AB. The whisky was inspired by the white sandy Traigh Bhan beach on the Isle of Islay.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, soft herbal notes are followed by citrusy aromas. Taste buds are first hit with smoke and dark chocolate, then by lighter tones of hazelnut, menthol, fresh lemongrass, aniseed, clove, and white pepper. The finish is sharp, intense, and long.
