Benromach 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Benromach 30 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky was crafted by the previous owners of the distillery. The whisky was made exclusively from malted barley, which was milled and mashed before being fermented in the distillery's wooden washbacks (the washbacks, which are the same washbacks Gordon & MacPhail continue to use, are made of European Larch). While wooden washbacks are more expensive and difficult to maintain as compared to stainless steel washbacks, they absorb a portion of the heat generated during fermentation, and thus allow for a more elegant and refined whisky. Following fermentation, the whisky was aged for 30 years in first-fill and refill sherry casks. As a result of its 30-year beautyrest, the whisky has an aroma of raisins and stone fruits that are accented by vanilla beans. The aroma gives way to a medium body, with notes of Christmas cake, marzipan and winter spice, and leads to a long finish with touches of cherries, raspberries and ginger.
