Thomas Handy Sazerac 2017 Straight Rye Whiskey
Buffalo Trace's revered Antique Collection is home to several ultra-premium whiskey expressions that have garnered countless awards over the years. Thomas Handy Sazerac is named after a New Orleans bartender who was the first to use rye whiskey in a Sazerac cocktail. Always bottled directly from the barrel, it's a series of bold and rich whiskey that's always uncut and unfiltered. The 2017 release is no exception ― distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2017, it was crafted from 72 hand-picked barrels of straight rye, all of them distilled from Minnesota rye, Kentucky corn, and North Dakota malted barley. After spending more than 6 years in #4 char American oak casks, the whiskey was bottled at 127.2 proof with prominent fig, allspice, and cinnamon notes. This expression was named "best NAS rye whiskey" by Jim Murray's Whisky Bible in 2018.

Tasting Notes
Baking spice aromas, rye spice, oak, fruit, and a touch of citrus greet the nose. Look for rye spice, allspice, and baking spice notes on the pleasantly sweet palate with hints of figs. The finish is warming and spicy with additional dark fruit and citrus notes.
