Wolves kicked off Volume One of their Rye project in collaboration with the Kentucky-based Willet Family Estate. Their first-time blend consists of a very low content (51%) rye whiskey, aged for six years in new American oak and transported to Sonoma County for additional aging. They wanted to start off with a straightforward and balanced format that would lean more toward the sweeter than the spicier side. The whiskey is then blended with a more potent (74%) straight rye whiskey from Willet’s Warehouse A, South Rick 14, and Warehouse H, South Rick 6. Both parties worked together and carefully selected the barrels, so they could present you with a complex, yet a truly balanced product. Bottled at 103 (51.5% ABV) proof and made perfect with a custom-made cork top that was inspired by the knob of a baseball bat, this Straight Rye Whiskey delivers bold flavors, an elegant bottle design, and a positively unmatched experience.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, you can smell a pleasing combination of oak, vanilla, pepper, dried fruit, butterscotch, copper, floral, and spice. The palate opens with oak, dried fruit, and vanilla accompanied by the butterscotch and angel food cake tastes, leaving you with an oily mouthfeel. The medium-short-lasting finish completes the journey with hints of warm vanilla and rising spice.
