About Rémy Martin
The legendary House of Rémy Martin is indubitably intertwined with the lands of Charente, where it was founded in 1724 by Rémy Martin, a descendant of Charente winemakers. This quaint portion of French terroir has given birth to some of the richest and most fertile crus of Grande and Petite Champagne. These quality vineyards with pale and chalky soils yield some of the most aromatic grapes.
Situated on the banks of the Charente River, the Cognac region of France is divided into six different crus (cru is the French term for growth zones): Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois, Bon Bois, and Bois Ordinaire. The Grande Champagne cru, which comprises approximately 34,000 hectares, is known for its quiet hills and rich, chalky soil, and is considered to produce the finest cognac in the region. The ideal conditions of these terroirs ripen the grapes to perfection, revealing “a n exhilarating bouquet of Fine Champagne.”

Cognac is a type of brandy produced in the Cognac region of France.
Because the French take it very seriously, there are numerous rules cognac makers have to follow not to fall “short” into the brandy category. The white wine from the specific grapes (Ugni blanc) has to be doubly distilled in a copper pot still before being aged for at least two years in oak casks from which the wood can only come from two specific forests in France (Limousin or Tronçais).
Depending on the age, there are three types of cognac, the youngest V.S. (Very Special), V.S.O.P. (Very Superior Old Pale), and the X.O. (Extra Old)

Navarre Vieille Réserve Grande Fine Champagne Cognac
$157.50 Availability: In StockAbout Navarre Vieille Réserve Grande Fine Champagne Cognac
The vineyards of the Navarre Estate are generally composed of Ugni Blanc grapes (which are known for their high acidity), along with small plots dedicated to the production of Folle Blanche and Colombard grapes (which Navarre uses for experimentation purposes). Once the grapes reach their peak maturity for distillation purposes, Navarre harvests them by hand ” a technique abandoned long ago by most cognac houses. After the grapes are harvested, they are fermented and distilled immediately using a 10 hectoliter (250-gallon) copper-pot charentais still.
Following distillation, the cognac is aged in oak barrels for a minimum of 30 years, although the average age of the cognac is closer to 40 or 50 years. The humid environment of Domaine du Renclos ” it is situated along the banks of a river ” together with the mild, sunny autumns and cool breezes of the Cognac region, naturally reduce the cognac to 90 proof during its three to five decade-long beauty rest.
Navarre Cognac Vieille Reserve has explosive notes of dried apricots, grapes and raisins that compliment a spicy, oaky undertone. The finish, which is long, luxurious and hedonistic, has slightly earthy notes, along with hints of cinnamon, honey and oak.
Only 60 bottles of this cognac are released into the United States each year. Pick up one of these rare treasures today!
About Navarre
Situated along the banks of the Charente River in southwestern France, Domaine du Renclos was founded in 1811 by Pierre Navarre, a French shipping merchant. The 11 hectares Navarre Estate, which is the equivalent of only 0.04 square miles, is situated entirely within the Grande Champagne cru of Cognac, France. Today, Jacky Navarre ” a fourth-generation cognac distiller and on e of the last remaining purists in the industry ” tends to the estate with a simple rule: “Let nature do (most of) the work.”

About Godet
It was way back in 1588 that a Dutch merchant started his salt & wine business in La Rochelle, a harbor town in Western France. His name was Bonaventure Godet and he is counted among the first to start distilling his wine in order to minimize the cost of transportation, receiving the right to do so from Henry IV of France. La Rochelle is where the Arab distillation techniques were first used with locally-produced wine, so it is considered the birthplace of cognac.
First known as “Dutch burnt wine” or “brandjwine”, it was the innovative Dutch traders and salt merchants such as Godet that were blazing a trail in cognac production. The business kept growing, so in 1782 Gédéon Louis Godet registered the cognac brand. Today, Godet Freres Cognac is a family-owned operation that is still based in the harbor and is run by the 15th generation of Godets with Jean Edouard Godet serving as Master Blender. Godet Cognac is known for its “floral nose, fruity palate, and a well-balanced length” and the uniqueness that aging the spirit by the Atlantic Ocean brings. < div class="brand-link">
